Torben Tolstøj: Passion, adventure, and daring to dive in
When passion outweighs reason, something special is created.
At Mazzury Sports Cars in Frederiksberg, Torben Tolstøj has built a place where childhood dreams on four wheels come true – driven by a lifelong love for cars and an unshakable sense of adventure.
Torben has never taken the safest route. From launching his own company to driving a classic Porsche 911 Safari through the Sahara, every decision reflects his belief that life should be lived in full throttle – even when you’re not sure there’s a bottom beneath your feet.
In this Q&A, Torben shares his thoughts on dreams, discovery, and the courage to take a leap into the unknown.way, and the importance of creating something lasting.
Dive in to discover what drives one of Scandinavia’s foremost car enthusiast and why, even after years in the field, he considers himself a lifelong learner.

MMG: Torben, you started Mazzury Sports Cars with your heart leading the way. Where does that passion come from?
Torben: “I grew up in a household with a love for cars, and my childhood bedroom was filled with car posters – especially Porsche, which already dominated motorsport at the time.”
These weren’t just vehicles to admire from afar – they became part of his imagination and ambition. Porsche left a mark early on, one that still runs through Mazzury’s DNA today.
MMG: You’ve said you’re driven by adventure, not just experience. What do you mean by that?
Torben: “To me, adventure is a level above experience, and I’ve always been driven by ‘the next level’.”
Torben sees adventure as the place where comfort ends and the unknown begins. It’s where he finds momentum – and meaning.

MMG: How did you prepare for crossing the Sahara in a classic Porsche 911 Safari?
Torben: “That’s a funny question, because we didn’t. I signed up for a trip through Morocco and the Sahara, but only realized it was a rallye when we arrived in Malaga where the event started. I have a spontaneous side, so I actually thought it was kind of fun – though also a bit nerve-racking.”
The journey wasn’t meticulously planned – and that was exactly the point. With dust in their lungs and adrenaline in their veins, Torben and his wife drove straight into the unknown. And loved every second of it.
MMG: You’re about to take on a new rally – this time in South America. What draws you back out there?
Torben: “It’s a unique way to experience a country. You get to places you’d never reach as a regular tourist – and there’s also the challenge of navigating with roadbooks in places you’ve never been. (And then there’s the competitive element).”
It’s not just about the ride – it’s about what the road reveals. Remote corners of the world, discovered behind the wheel of something loud and beautiful.

MMG: What would you say to someone sitting on a dream but afraid to take the leap?
Torben: “You shouldn’t leave this world without having lived out your dreams. I believe you’ll regret it – so the only solution is to go for it.”
There’s no such thing as the perfect moment. But according to Torben, the greatest risk is doing nothing at all. The leap is the point.
MMG: Is Mazzury an adventure to you as well?
Torben: “For me, it is. Having the chance to collect the cars I dreamed of as a boy is a big experience – but creating a place that I think is truly unique, that’s an adventure…”
Mazzury Sports Cars isn’t just a business. It’s a dream brought to life – built with instinct, driven by emotion, and crafted like the cars it showcases.
